Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging is seeking hard-working, forward-thinking applicants who are dedicated to helping assist Allegheny County residents, 60 years of age and older, to live safe, healthy and, when possible, independent lives. As an Aging Case Aide 2, you will assist consumers and their advocates to better understand and obtain information on community services and resources available to meet their individual needs. Duties include maintaining and disseminating data base and written information about aging programs, resources, services, and benefits applications and assisting in compiling consumer contact report data. You will also provide back up to the SeniorLine to take messages, complete Reports of Need for consumer situations described as having the potential to meet protective services requirements, and answer questions as needed.You will work directly with consumers to explain eligibility requirements and services provided by community agencies as well as prepare applications for services and provide assistance during home and office visits. All consumer interactions will be documented in the Social Assistance Management System (SAMS) and SAMS/IR database in an accurate manner. This position also serves as a backup for all bulk mailing requests, including materials requests for information fairs and speaking engagements.Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as an Aging Case Aide 1; or

Two years of public contact work, including one year in a human services program; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.Other Requirements:

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Allegheny County. If no eligible candidates who live within Allegheny County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
