Accounting Intern - 1924
DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Internship Details:
The Stella-Jones Corp Railway Tie Division has an opening for a summer Accounting Intern starting in June of 2024. The Intern chosen will be placed into a multiweek rotation working in the different groups within the accounting department (Product Cost, Operations, and Reporting). This rotation will enhance your knowledge of railway tie industry and show you areas where and how certain materials are made.Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the position is based on-site at our office in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a paid summer Accounting internship and start/end dates are flexible depending on your school's schedule.Duties and responsibilities include:
Executes tasks and completes projects given by Controller and/or accounting managers.
Support and assist with reporting packages sent to manufacturing facilities.
Support the month-end and year-end closing process.
Work with accounting software to process business transactions.
Ensure proper coding of expenses to correct accounts and departments.
Prepares and performs other Ad Hoc analysis and reporting as required.Prospective projects include:
Analysis of western railway tie yards as standalone profit centers including factors of freight, rent, and additional revenue charges.
Review of annual standard product cost including Bill-of-Material updates
Build information packet for different facilities.Required Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Accounting degree program at an accredited university. Students with graduation dates in the Fall of 2024 or Spring/Summer of 2025 highly preferred.
Prior accounting internship experience preferred.
Completed a Cost Accounting class a plus.
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage various tasks simultaneously.
Intermediate Excel skills and familiarity with Microsoft OfficeNote: The selected intern must successfully submit preemployment background checks and drug testing.
