Construction Inspector – Pittsburgh, PA

Reports to: Project Manager

General Qualities:

- Is a proactive Self – starter.

- Provides technical support.

- Experience on sewer rehabilitation, highway and bridge construction projects.

- PennDOT experience is a bonus.

- Position requires 2-6 years of experience on drainage, highway and/or bridge construction inspection projects, along with the following certifications:

 ACI Field Technician Certification,

 NECEPT Asphalt Field Technician,

 PennDOT/NECEPT Concrete Technician,

 NICET LEVEL II or III; Highway Construction (optional),

 PA professional Engineering License (optional).

 Traffic Control (optional),

 Guide Rail (optional)

 Stormwater Management (optional).

- Experience with PennDOT’s ECMS and other document control software (is a bonus).

- Knowledge of drainage, highway and bridge construction specifications, standards, materials, and work methods.

- Can accomplish assigned tasks independently with minimal guidance from their supervisor.

- Capable of developing solutions to problems.

Technical Responsibilities

- Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.

- Inspect and document construction progress, procedures, materials, and work product for conformance with plans and specifications.

- Prepare inspection reports on work in progress and completed work, including quantity calculations, and witness and document material testing.

- Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.

- Gather and maintain recorded documents.

- Report to and provide support for the Project Site Inspector In Charge.

- Be able to perform work independently.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational and Professional Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is a bonus.

- PA Professional Engineering License is a bonus.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle.

- Must adhere to KSE and project specific safety rules and requirements.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and navigate through company internet-based systems.
