HVAC Maintenance Mechanic

The American College of Physicians (ACP) is looking for a HVAC Maintenance Mechanic for its Facilities department. ACP, a national organization of internists with headquarters in Philadelphia, is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States with more than 161,000 members worldwide. This role will be on-site at the Philadelphia office (190 N Independence Mall West Philadelphia, PA 19106).

The HVAC Maintenance Mechanic’s primary duties will be to:

Installs, services, and repairs environmental control systems in a high-rise office building, utilizing expertise in refrigeration technology, pipefitting, and structural layout.

Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating-ventilation fans to control panels and power sources.

Monitors, maintains, and performs minor repairs to boilers and boiler house auxiliaries, overseeing contract workers as necessary.

Assists in overseeing building systems operations including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire, and life/safety systems.

Conducts building inspections and systems audits as directed by the Facilities Manager.

Evaluates and recommends major equipment purchases for building-related systems and components.

Respond to employee and tenant work orders.

Respond to after-hours (overnight, weekend or holiday) emergencies when required.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school degree and trade school certification required.

City of Philadelphia Building engineers “Class A” Operators license or equivalent.

Five plus years of progressive plant engineering experience in a center city hi-rise environment.

Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, HVAC, fire, and safety codes, plumbing, and carpentry.

Valid driver’s license

Ability to lift and move 50lbs

Good oral communication skills required to interact effectively with College staff and tenant representatives in a professional manner regarding maintenance problems or assignments
