Pool Service Helpers and Technicians

Job Candidates should be:

Hard working, honest, organized, punctual and dependable

Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems

Manage time efficiently

Professional with Clients/Excellent Customer Service

Must have a valid driver’s license with no restrictions and be willing to meet each morning in the Quakertown Area

Be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures, without access to bathrooms.

Capable of taking direction as well as self-starting

Qualifications:

Level 1

Unskilled Laborer

1) Minimum- conversational English skills

2) Reliable transportation- to and from work.

3) Consistently on time to work

4) Can read and understand power tool operator manuals.

5) Basic mechanical aptitude, including:

a. Able to identify and safely use common had tools and power tools

b. Able to accurately read tape measure and record measurements

c. Can operate and safely add fluids to [Pool Care] gas-powered equipment.

6) Able to perform physical demands of Pool Service work as described below:

a. Frequent bending, stooping, stretching; carrying tools or materials.

b. Safely lift and move 50 pounds regularly and as much as 95 pounds occasionally.

c. Work outdoors in all [safe] weather conditions.

7) “Clean” DMV record. Can safely operate a company service vehicle.

8) Able to efficiently locate job sites.

9) Available to work 10+ hours per day during peak season (April10-July 10)

10) Available Holiday work (between March 15 and October 15)

Level 2

Description: Technician

1) Registered “Trainee”- CT SP license program

2) CPO - Certified Pool Operator

3) Can operate common Pool/Spa Remote Control Systems.

4) Certified Weekly Pool, Service Technician:

a. Can operate and service basic filtration systems, including:

i. Sand Filter

ii. DE filter with separation tank

iii. Cartridge filter

b. Can service/clean a pool or spa including”

i. skim, vacuum, brush: clean tile

c. Pool chemical testing and application:

i. Can test and balance pH, TA and Ca Hardness

ii. Can test for cyanic acid and properly add chlorine stabilizer

iii. Can test for and add sanitizers and oxidizers in all common applications.

iv. Can properly use stain and scale treatments.

v. Can safely store and transport pool/spa chemicals.

5) Communications: Demonstrates effective written and verbal communications skills.

6) Can replace basic serviceable parts:

eg. Filter site glass, gauge, eyeball fitting, baskets, skimmer weirs, etc.

8) Able to follow and support Glengate safety policies and procedures.

9) Maintain uniforms clean. Replace when worn, torn or stained.

10) Approved: Underwater Diver Spotter

Level 3

Description: Technician

1) Minimum 2 years (complete) pool service experience.

2) PHTA Certified Maintenance Specialist (CMS)

3) Can perform new pool or spa “crank-up” visits (Not 1st visit)

4) System Controls Operator.

a) Can operate and program basic pool/ spa Automated Control systems.

b) Can operate complex filter systems- I.e. OF spa w/ multiple pump/air, etc.

5) Filter Repair/Reconditioning- DE, Sand, Cart.

6) Basic Pump (wet-end) Repair-

7) Basic PVC Plumbing Repair- (e.g. Replace multipart; pump install)

8) Basic Equipment Salesperson (replacement pump, filter, light)

9) Drain and Acid Wash Helper

10) Basic leak detection”

a. Can perform15-minute quick check. (see SOP)

b. Can set yo and read, “bucket test”

c. Can dye test skimmer body and mouth from deck.

d. Can seal skimmer leaks (neatly) with epoxy putty.
