The Role
The successful candidate is responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient movement of all property flowing into, through, and leaving the auction house.
Responsibilities:
Ensuring the safe handling of all inventory
Maintaining orderly flow through the loading dock, warehouse, photography zones, and showroom
The unloading, unpacking and receiving of incoming consignments
Preparing consignments for cataloging, including tagging items, taking measurements, and documenting related information
Moving and arranging furniture for photographers
Setting up and breaking down live auctions and auction previews
Assisting clients with the packing and removal of purchases
Facilitating customer pickups
Releasing items to shippers, buyers and returns to consignors
Participating on preview and auction days with client interaction and absentee/phone bidding functions.
Effectively working with other staff members to develop and maintain orderly storage and recordkeeping procedures from intake, through the entire cataloging / sale process, to reconciliation of consignor accounts
Assisting with building / custodial maintenance, projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Maintain a valid Driver’s License
Paid experience handling and moving furniture with industry-accepted procedures and safety protocols
Ability to lift 75+ lbs using the appropriate tools
Ability to pack/unpack fragile items to prepare for shipment
Ability to work well under pressure
Commitment to an exemplary level of client service
Excellent time keeping, the ability to use time efficiently and to prioritise
Highly organized & reliable
Team player mentality with an ability to work independently
Ability to adapt to a variety of working environments including extremes in temperature
Must have reliable transportation.
Previous Auction House experience is strongly preferred but not required.
