HOME HEALTH AIDE/CAREGIVER/PCA JOB DESCRIPTION

A Home Health Aide works under the guidance, supervision, and direction of a Supervisor. Home Health Aides provides Home Health Care Services according to the plan established by the Supervisor based on the patient’s situation, condition, and needs. A Home Health Aide reports to immediate Supervisor or, if not assigned, to Coordinator.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Satisfactory completion of PA State-approved training course for Home Health Aide.

Compliance with all requirements set forth in personnel policies.

The knowledge of when a task is not within the ability or training of a Home Health Aide and the good judgment not to do anything that might endanger the client.

The ability to decide what needs to be done, how, within the limits of prescribed duties of a Home Health Aide.

The ability to comprehend directions and instructions given by Galaxy Home Care supervisors, the client, and the client's family and to carry out the instructions in the best interest of the client.

The necessary skills for maintaining patient records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties listed below are general and subject to individual Plan of Care, but may include:

Helping client with eating and drinking.

Helping with the grooming of hair including shampoo, shaving, and the care of nails.

Helping client on and off bedpan, commode, and toilet.

Helping with oral hygiene and care.

Bathing clients in bed, tub, or in the shower as directed by Supervisor.

Helping the client to move from bed to chair, wheelchair, and in walking.

Taking client's temperature, pulse, and respiration, when and if so directed by Supervisor.

Following schedule set by Supervisor and in accordance with family.

Keeping client's records, as instructed by Supervisor.

Performing function, as directed by Supervisor.

Helping client put clothes on.

Maintaining client confidentiality.

Washing dishes and other Housekeeping chores in the bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen associated with the care of the client.

Cooking and serving meals for the client only as required in Care Plan.

Listing supplies needed.

Shopping for the client if necessary (without client attending)

Dusting and vacuuming the rooms that the client uses without moving furniture.

Making and changing the client's bed.

If necessary, wash the client's personal laundry.

Assisting, as directed by supervisor, with simple procedures as an extension of physical, speech, or occupational therapy.

Traveling to the client's home without reimbursement from the agency.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
