Facilities Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform on-going general maintenance and repairs on buildings and grounds; to include plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, exterior repairs, asphalt & concrete patching, flooring, and other building misc. repairs to systems.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing work within established procedures and processes under both verbal and written instructions.

Performing repair or general Maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glazier, and painting tasks which include but are not limited to:

Performing preventive building maintenance duties; caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows.

Repairing and treating structures such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, carpets, and roofs

Repairs and replaces doorknobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls.

Moving and assisting in transportation of furniture and equipment

Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.

Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.

Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.

Purchases supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.

Daily tasks include:

Maintain preventive maintenance schedule for Borough Buildings.

Provide repairs and maintenance to buildings as identified and scheduled.

Perform Emergency repairs to property and buildings as needed or calling in appropriate contractor to handle said emergency.

Coordinate work repairs or maintenance with Library Director, Public Works Director, Fire Chief and Code Director and Borough Manager.

Evaluate and Scope larger repairs needed on borough buildings or grounds.

Oversee processes for contracting larger projects for borough buildings and grounds.

o Scope projects and establish project details and specifications.

o Obtain quotes for repairs and maintenance.

o Evaluate quotes and make recommendations for selection of contractor.

o Review and approve contracts with contractor and Code Director.

o Provide Project oversight and attend pre-bid meetings as necessary.

o Provide scoping and specs to Borough Engineer for Bidding Projects over $25,000.

Provide Monthly Facility reports to Code Director that will present to Infrastructure Committee.

Chair Workplace Safety Committee

o Complete workplace safety reports and attend meetings as required

Setup and manage annual fire extinguisher and sprinkler certifications.

Setup and manage all facilities fire alarm annual certifications and testing.

And other duties as may be required from time to time.
