Bistro Romano in Society Hill is a Philadelphia favorite for 36 years, renowned for regional Italian cuisine and impeccable service in our Granary Dining Room, Bistro Bar, Private 120 Dining Room and Wine Shoppe. We are looking for a seasoned host to join our team and help us to create extraordinary guest experiences.
Hosts are the face of our business. Our ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities and a keen attention to detail. You must be reliable, timely and friendly, and capable of providing thoughtful and responsive service. The restaurant opens at 4:45pm, Wednesday thru Sunday. The earliest shift begins at 2pm, and the latest ends around 11pm.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greet all guests immediately upon arrival; provide a fond farewell upon departure
Lead guests to tables and provide with menus
Manage reservations using OpenTable
Answer phone and check voicemail
Confirm reservations; inquire about dietary restrictions and food allergies
Receive take-out orders and execute payment
Communicate with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service
Assist with setting and clearing tables and provide water service when required
Ensure host stand and entry area is presentable and ready for guests at all times
Manage coat check during winter months
Vacuum carpets, stairs and vestibule
Ensure restaurant frontage is neat and orderly
Set up Wine Shoppe for daily operation
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
1 year of hosting experience in an upscale, high-volume restaurant
18 or older
Polite and calm under pressure
Able to work in a standing position for 6-8 hours at a time
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Compensation: Hourly (Starting at $18.00 - commensurate with experience)
