The Study Interviewer will be responsible for conducting interviews with women who inject drugs (WWID) participating in a large HIV prevention study funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The purpose of this research is to understand if and how addressing traumatic violent experiences and substance use helps women reduce HIV-related risk behaviors over time.
The Study Interviewer will work closely with the study Principal Investigator, study coordinators, research assistants, and PrEP Clinic staff. All interviews will take place at Prevention Point Philadelphia and Courage Medicine located in Kensington, Philadelphia.
Essential Functions
Conducting outreach to recruit and retain new participants.
Explaining study procedures to participants.
Obtaining informed consent.
Administering quantitative assessments and qualitative interviews.
Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens for submission to an external laboratory.
Performing laboratory tests on premises (including urine drug screens and the collection of scalp hair for adherence testing).
Triaging and directly linking participants to harm reduction and medical services (including, but not limited to, case management, drug and alcohol treatment assessments, or wound care at Prevention Point Philadelphia and Courage Medicine).
Promoting and maintaining participant confidentiality as required by university and federal policy.
Documenting study visits in REDCap, a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, public health, nursing, other helping profession, or liberal arts OR an Equivalent combination of an associate's degree and relevant work experience
1 year or relevant experience
Knowledgeable about HIV, HIV testing, and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
Proficient using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong commitment to social justice, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care
Strong interpersonal skills, specifically conflict resolution and de-escalation
Strong leadership and communication skills
Collaborative approach to work and ability to work in a multi-person, interdisciplinary team
Ability to communicate effectively with persons of varying educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds

Additional Information
This position is classified as non-exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $19.69 to $29.54 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
