Provides support to the licensed clinical Occupational & Physical Therapists and Therapy Assistants in the completion of their patient care responsibilities and daily work flow. Ensures that the environment is safe, clean, secure and orderly at all times.What you will do

1.Transport & Safety:

Under close supervision from a licensed therapist:

Assists in safely transporting patients to and from therapy areas.

Demonstrates safe body mechanics and safely performs all types of patient transfers.

Demonstrates competency in patient safety responsibilities at all times.

Performs code cart checks

2. Intervention Sessions:

Under close supervision from a licensed therapist:

Assists with group and individual patient treatment under close direct supervision from a licensed therapist.

Such assistance may include preparation of the patient and patient areas for treatment, assisting in transfer/positioning of patient, participating in group treatment led by a therapist, helping patients to practice routine therapy activities following demonstration by a therapist, and modifying adaptive equipment/assistive devices designed by a therapist

3. Cleaning

Straightens therapy rooms, keeps storage areas neat and orderly, returns toys and other equipment to their proper location, straightens office areas including bookshelves and files, and cleans kitchen counters and surfaces.

Sanitizes mats, mat table, toys, test materials, and other equipment used in patient care.

Cleans whirlpools on weekly basis.

Checks splint pan and hydro collator for water level and perform routine cleaning according to infection control guidelines.

Cleans refrigerator, stove, and microwave. Discards all perishable foods left in refrigerator or cabinets.

Cleans storage closets and cabinets; wipes down shelves

4. Inventory/clerical/administrative

Performs spot check of inventory (splinting, central) and replaces stock as needed.

Checks department for housekeeping or maintenance concerns and arranges for service as needed.

Delivers and collects department mail.

Assists clinical staff as requested in performing errands or clerical work.

Assists clinical staff in training and delegation to department volunteers.

OT specific duty:

Under indirect supervision from a licensed therapist scores standardized assessment results for developmental evaluations.

Education Qualifications

High School Diploma / GED Required

Skills and Abilities

Basic working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint computer programs

Basic working knowledge of photocopiers, fax machines, scanner, laminators and printers

Basic working knowledge of iPads, projectors, cameras and downloading of photos

Interpersonal relationships skills that permit effective communication with parents, children of various ages, peers and supervisors.

Works in a physical therapy gym, treatment r oms, and hospital rooms.

Required to lift patients with or without the assistance of others, depending on both the patient and employees needs.To carry out its mission, CHOP is committed to supporting the health of our patients, families, workforce, and global community.
