We are looking for a Privacy Director, Assistant General Counsel to join the Clarivate Analytics privacy team! This role will report to the SVP, Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer. Clarivate has global operations and operates in 40+ countries. This role plays an import role in the overall success of the privacy program by providing privacy guidance to the Life Sciences and Health (LS&H) business segment of a global highly matrix organization. J.D. degree and membership in at least one US state bar
CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional)
10+ years of progressive privacy experience
3+ years of experience in a global company
3+ years of providing privacy guidance related to Common Rule research in the US and Human Subjects research OUS
Strong knowledge of relevant privacy laws, including HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, etc.
Experience providing legal guidance for US health privacy laws, Global Privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, UK GDPR, Swiss GDPR, APAC, LATAM, etc.) technology, social media and web tracking technologies
Experience leading and providing legal advice for data incidents and breach mitigations managementIt would be great if you also had
Strong knowledge of US privacy law, including but not limited to HIPAA, CCPA, CPA, etc.
Broad knowledge of the GDPR
Strong incident investigations and data breach management expertise
Experience providing privacy guidance for social media, internet and technology
Ability to lead a team of OUS privacy attorneysWhat will you be doing in this role?
You will provide legal counsel to the Life Sciences and Health business segment of Clarivate
Serve as legal representative to the life science and health program-related teams
As a member of the Privacy Leadership Team, provide legal advice and consulting as a subject matter expert in data protection laws and strategically developing, enforcing and driving the global privacy compliance program
Serve as lead legal reviewer for all contracts within LS&H, and regulatory functions, and, as necessary, oversee the legal aspects of a broad array of contracts generally within his/her domain, including reviewing, revising, drafting, and negotiating
Serve as lead legal and compliance advisor for LS&H, which includes providing legal and business counsel, and establishing and influencing appropriate ethical standards and legal considerations
Lead consensus building across legal and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues such as data protection and privacy, consumer protection, security, and other global legal frameworks
Ensure effective execution of privacy requirements, maintenance and adherence to related policies and procedures, commensurate with the level of privacy risk
Provide legal support for incident response for privacy breaches in coordination with internal partners who oversee mitigation strategies and regulatory communications for the enterprise
Assist with privacy related regulatory examinations, ISO audits, and internal audits
Give advice and recommendations to the organization about the interpretation or application of the data protection laws
Assist in selecting and managing external counsel and other advisors
Manage a team of OUS privacy attorneysAbout the Team
