The Manager of Patient Access directs and coordinates all daily operations of the Admissions and Emergency Departments and the Crises Response Center (CRC) within Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH). The Emergency, Admissions and CRC Departments are responsible for the 24 hours a day/7 days a week patient registration of patients.Oversees employees in the specific areas. Monitors quality of work and compliance with managed care protocols. Provides assistance to staff to ensure compliance with hospital and departmental policy and procedures. Ensures that staff provided quality customer service internal and external customers. Maintains order and appropriate behavior among employees within the departments.

Responsibilities:

Manages the 24/7 daily operations of the Emergency and CRC departments.Ensures department is following proper registration protocols which include regulatory compliance and hospital and departmental policy and procedure compliance Reviews departmental policies and procedures on a regular basis and makes updates as needed, focusing on continuous process improvement. Monitor standards to ensure compliance with HIPAA as it relates to privacy and data security of the registration databases.Performs daily audit of work-ques, monitor registration reports generated via Penn Chart to review registration timing and accuracy. Identifies areas of improvement and discuss with management team.Ensures that the staff are up to date with all managed care guidelines, contracts of acceptable and non-acceptable insurance plans. Communicate with all levels of hospital staff to resolve issues and apply Emergency/EMTALA protocols as required. Ensure staff is applying the Hospital guidelines for ACT Fast and HASTE.Assists in managing relationships with internal and external customers (i.e. vendors, hospital and practice departments, county assistance liaisons, etc.) Manages staff interviews, hires, assigns and directs work, appraises staff performance with rewards and discipline, addresses complaints and resolves issues that may arise, and acts as a mentor for departmental staff.Enforce the hospital initiative for Patient/Employee safety. Ensures professionalism of all staff in all interpersonal activities.Review the process of insurance validation and the collection of co-payments and the financial responsibility based on the RTE response from Penn Chart. Secures the registration interface for accurate mapping of demographic and financial data to secure revenue on final bill.Manage the monthly Penn Chart downtime overnight and arrange staffing (work on site or virtual). Check AHIQA daily for registration errors.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelors degree Or 5+ years in a management role within a healthcare setting required.
