About the Fashion Design Program

Drexel's top-flight Fashion Design major is a studio-based, boutique-style undergraduate program that trains the next generation of creative thinkers for the fashion industry. The program is . Students in Drexel's Fashion Design program have the opportunity to study alongside dynamic educators with extensive industry experience, produce innovative designs in our well-equipped studios, and participate in Drexel's world-renowned co-op and study abroad programs. The culmination of the program is the , at which students showcase original garments and accessories for industry leaders.

The Fashion Design program in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design at Drexel University seeks qualified adjunct faculty. Creativity, innovation and fashion leadership is a must. The qualified candidate will have active industry connections, industry experience and success in creative work. The ideal candidate will understand the role of craft in sustainable design.

Fashion Design majors are housed in the , Westphal's state-of-the-art facility, with well-equipped, spacious studios available to students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students have access to an extensive array of high-tech equipment for their design work, including 3-D printers, laser cutters, Shima Seiki knitting machines, and advanced computer simulation, as well as cutting-edge analytic platforms, enterprise resource planning/production lifecycle management software, and trend resources.

Job Summary

The Fashion Design Program seeks adjunct faculty members with expertise in the following areas:

Expertise applies to the specific course(s) in need of adjunct faculty

Apparel software programs including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, SHIMA SEIKI Apex 3, SHIMA SEIKI Design software, Clo-3 or similar 3D Design Software.

Fashion illustration and flat sketching experience.

Flat pattern making, draping, grading, and garment construction.

Textile surface design.

Textile science.

Knitwear design.

Advance fashion design: couture techniques, intimate apparel design, accessory design.

We are currently hiring for the following courses:

FASH 318: Technical Design For Industry

Fashion data visualization for use in the design and manufacturing of fashion product. Students create detailed flat sketches and technical packs for product lifecycle management.

FASH 304: Materials Exploration

This course examines the relationship of fibers, processes and textile creation and form as it relates to the body. Students will learn how to transform and manipulate fabric by uncovering processes that allow the metamorphosis of planar materials into three-dimensional works.

Essential Functions

Teaching assigned classes in undergraduate and graduate fashion design.

Teach required number of cr dit hours per quarter based on their contract.

Teach studio, lecture, and/or practicum courses per their contract.

Plan and provide instructional experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the program.

Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes,

Maintain communication with the program director regarding any course or student issues.

Perform other similar duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in fashion design, integrated design, textile design, or sustainable design

Relevant industry experience applicable to Fashion Design Program's curricular needs.

Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience and/or supervisory work with undergraduate or graduate students; documented alternative teaching or mentoring experience will be considered.

Industry experience with well-developed portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) or similar LMS

Minimum of 3 years of robust industry experience in the content area of the course.
