The Assistant Buyer works collaboratively with the Buyer Visual Merchandise and Social Media Manager, the Regional Manager and Retrospect Store Manager in order to drive the business. The position is a member of the Retail Team. SPECIFIC DUTIES
Follow all Goodwill policies and safety procedures. Must possess professional etiquette.
Executes operations plan to achieve required targeted growth in daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for profit, revenue, and production for the Retrospect location.
Researches merchandise to determine appropriate selling platform (Retrospect, E-Commerce, Etsy, etc.).
Working alongside Buyer Visual Merchandise and Social Media Manager, stays current on fashion trends and merchandising to ensure that maximum revenue is achieved.
Consistent communication with Buyer Visual Merchandise and Social Media Manager, Regional Manager, Store Manager, and Sales staff regarding the wants and needs of the Retrospect store.
Works with Buyer Visual Merchandise and Social Media Manager, Regional Manager and Store Manager to determine pricing.
Loads/unloads merchandise on/from Goodwill transportation vehicles on a weekly basis.
Keep abreast of trends and best practices in new online media and website technology.
Works with Buyer Visual Merchandise and Social Media Manager, Regional Manager and Store Manager to stay up-to-date regarding all aspects of Retrospect operations.
Collaborates with store leadership to establish clear company vision and ensure staff engagement.
Opens and closes store when needed.
Processes sales transactions and customer returns when needed.
Must maintain a clean and neat personal appearance at all times.
Regular attendance is required. Attend staff meetings as needed.
All other essential duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Vast knowledge of vintage and antique clothing, housewares, books, furniture, toys, music, etc.
Ability to identify vintage fabrics and characteristics of vintage clothing as well as brands.
Knowledge of designers, past and present.
Ability to differentiate fake vs. real garments, purses, and shoes.
Knowledge of fine art, prints, and lithographs, including artists and medium.
Knowledge of home décor and houseware trends.
