Company Background -

Our company creates lighting, hardware and custom metalwork such as gates, railings, stairs, fountains, etc. for very high-end residential projects. A typical day is 8 hours, with reasonable flexibility to set your own schedule once you're up to speed. Some choose to work 9 hour days plus 1/2 day Friday. We will consider a Part-Time schedule that meets 25-30 hours per week. Benefits only available after 35 hours.

Job Summary -

We are looking to hire a CAD designer with product design and detailing experience. This position combines design, some engineering and a strong ability to conceptualize how our craftsmen would build what our clients need. Job requires adaptability and flexibility to change on a variety of projects.

- Primary functions include creating 2D and or 3D models and shop drawings of projects & assemblies as needed for customer approvals and shop production.

- Responsible for design, planning, organizing, developing documents, methods, approaches, and techniques for conceptual and interpretive drafting of design-build or plan/spec projects.

- Research, develop, and prepare design documents to determine adequacy and accuracy of drawings and design.

- Prepare and produce sketches, models and blueprints used to build products.

- Design plans and store technical drawings using CAD software.

- Create models from scratch and update existing models.

- Detail mechanical parts and produce part drawings for outside suppliers and vendors

- Work from sketches and specifications from internal employees, clients, architects, designers and others.

- Communicate with architects and engineers.

- Calculate material dimensions, requirements and limitations.

- Conferring with interdepartmental personnel concerning technical support issues.

- Assist with set up production methods as need for projects.

- Secondary functions will include documentation and development of new and existing HMW standard collections.

- Additional duties may include sourcing, product documentation, production support and planning support, job scheduling and tracking.

The position interacts with project managers, production staff and clients from start through completion of manufacturing process. The role reports directly to the shop manager/owner and is not just a desk job. Once up to speed, you'll meet with clients, site supervisors, verify conditions and develop installation concepts & details. You'll also work with our craftsmen as they build what you've drawn to insure accurate production/fabrication.

Qualifications -

- The ideal candidate will have experience in the metal fabrication industry with IronCAD, but we do offer training for the right candidate who possesses relevant industry experience along with strong 3D CAD skills such as Inventor & Solidworks.

- 4+ years’ design experience, working on projects with various degrees of complexity.

- This position does not require an engineering degree.
