Seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as a Part-Time Bookkeeper. This position is responsible for managing the church's financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with church leadership to maintain transparency and stewardship of church resources.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including income, expenses, tithes, and donations.
Weekly bank deposits
Accounts Payable: Process payments to vendors.
Record investment account activity.
Payroll Management: Record payroll transactions from the church’s payroll processor
Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile monthly bank statements and investigate/resolve discrepancies.
Financial Reporting: Generate monthly financial statements and provide reports to the Congregational Treasurer.
Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of church financial records and member contributions.
Collaboration: Work with the church treasurer, finance committee, and pastor to support the church's financial goals.
Qualifications
Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.
Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Knowledge of nonprofit or church accounting principles preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Understanding of and alignment with the church's mission and values.
Work Schedule
It is expected that the duties can be completed working no more than 10 hours per week. There is a certain amount of flexibility in when these hours are worked but Tuesdays/Thursdays are preferred.
Compensation
Compensation begins at $35/hour.
