GIS Cartographer

This position is responsible for important GIS map record creation and maintenance, according to recorded subdivision plans/plats, legal descriptions, deeds, Mapping procedures and BOA records, survey maps, and other supporting documentation, as applicable. A GIS Cartographer will work in support of County departments, along with providing customer assistance, in person, via email and calls. The GIS Cartographer position requires understanding of ESRI's, software versions of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Tyler Technologies and staying up to date with software changes and applications.

Update County parcel layer and correct all associated errors;

Draw and edit parcel geometry and right of ways, using ArcGIS Pro, as depicted, described, and annotated on recorded subdivision plans, site plans, deeds, deeds of consolidation, PUDs declarations and amendments, and other supporting documents;

Follow Mapping procedures and assigned workflows;

Validate topology of parcel geometry and fix all associated errors;

Georeference plans, surveys, maps, imagery, and any other supplementary source.

Create pre/post production maps and update the Assessors Packets with associated documents;

Review and enter parcel numbers and unit numbers accurately, before final data entry in GIS and CAMA systems/databases;

Annotate subdivision plans with received Date, Units, and any notes that helps the Mapping team/department maintain unambiguous communication and keep accurate records;

Annotate CAMA generated Property Record Cards, with changes to square footage, land use, and other parcel related information;

Edit parcel annotation, attributes, and geometry, as necessary to ensure the accuracy of the county's parcel data records;

Researches, compiles, and analyzes information and facts for a given geographic area and depicts that information visually in the form of a map and or Traverse rendering;

Create maps to support the Board of Assessment Staff and assessment operations, as assigned by the GIS Coordinator;

Review Mapping operation log and work on logged and assigned plans, deeds, and parcel production or correction work;

Assist the Mapping Team in preparing Assessment Revision Sheets, when needed, and other tasks, as assigned by the Board of Assessments and GIS Coordinator;

Research legal descriptions, metes and bounds of deeds and subdivision plans;

Service the public and assist visitors and callers with access to County Property Records.

Refer all assessment inquiries to Assessors;

Communicate and work with Assessors and Real Estate/Registry department, and other county departments, as applicable;

Ensure the accuracy of parcel numbers, Block and Unit numbers, and the parcel area on the before and after map;

Verify Square footage, annotations, metes and bounds and map scale;

Report all discrepancies, questions to the GIS Coordinator;

Consult with the GIS Coordinator regarding all Mapping operations;

The GIS Coordinator and the Office of the Board of Assessments may assign the GIS Cartographer other duties.

Associate program or higher, with two years of GIS software experience, GIS certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred backgrounds in title search, legal descriptions, surveying, and drafting;

Microsoft office Excel and Word. Adobe, Office 365;

ESRI ArcGIS Software ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Tyler Technologies- CAMA;
