Investment Management FinTech Data Scientist, Specialist

Core Responsibilities

Implements new data strategies for FinTech program under guidance from senior team members.

Understands and aids in development of process and data architecture, data preparation, and normalization.

Supports and maintains FinTech data architecture, software, and model libraries and process routines.

Back-tests and confirms peer model and code changes with statistical certainty.

Conceptualizes, codes, and implements new financial analytic processes for FinTech using big data technologies.

Develops understanding of Vanguard's investment management processes across businesses and regions, as well as data and data structures underpinning those activities.

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other areas of Vanguard. Anticipates and coordinates business requirements that drive analytics implementation.

Develops and maintains knowledge of financial markets, securities, and general investment themes, and new technologies in order to bring an informed perspective to current financial technology landscape.

Creates and documents data architecture and data requirements for data sources within big data framework.

Continually grows and develops understanding of various statistical concepts and machine learning applications.

Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Three years experience in a technical or related financial discipline or combination of education and certifications.

Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Degree in a quantitative discipline preferred.
