This position works with the managers and directors within preoperative services. They also act as a liaison between perioperative services and IT, customer service, patient accounting, nursing, and the employed and non-employed physicians when appropriate.Essential Job Functions

Support the execution of company strategy across business segments to optimize experience and results.

Develops, implements, and manages reporting related to this position’s areas of responsibility including but not limited to utilization, charge reconciliation, efficiencies, and quality. Is involved in project management where appropriate.

Plans, assesses, implements and evaluates the care for a designated group of patients.

Directs and actively participates as an effective member of the interdisciplinary health care team, contributing to the efficient operation of their areas of responsibility and promoting positive patient outcomes.

Responsible for the work schedules, time and attendance.

Collaborate with peers and CSC’s across perioperative services to coordinate work and patient flow within areas of responsibility and across the continuum.

Assist Managers, Directors and physician offices with changes requested to the schedule.

Work with Anesthesia Managers and Directors to make changes as needed to process to ensure high quality care.

Manage nursing supplies inventory by setting up systems to anticipate needs verifying receipt of supplies.

Identify and organize patient care requirements by developing plans of care and putting support systems in place for potential and actual patients, and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.

Assist in facilitating team meetings, developing materials for projects, and developing tools used for projects such as spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviews professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Keep abreast of new procedures, treatments, drugs, equipment related to the care of the postoperative patient to assure progressive Peri-operative care within areas of responsibility.

Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measure health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; make or recommend necessary adjustments; follow system/hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.

Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.

Maintain continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Manage the hiring, training, evaluating, scheduling and education of departmental staff.

Interview new hires in association with peer interviewer.

Initiate any corrective action plans for staff not meeting performance standards.

Assign staff to orient new staff to the department and develops the department staff schedule.

Assists department manager in development of policies, procedures, practices and standards of the department.

Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate Degree in Nursing or higher and two to four (2-4) years’ experience in a perioperative setting.

Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.

Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) years of nursing supervisory experience preferred.

LEAN training preferred.

Prior healthcare project management experience preferred.

BSN or MSN preferred.

License, Certification & Clearances

Act 33 renewal

Act 34 renewal

Act 73 FBI Clearance

Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania required.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required.

Current PALS or completion within one (1) year of hire may be required by department.

Current ACLS or completion within one (1) year of hire may be required by department.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
