Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the accurate and timely performance of diagnostic and treatment testing in relation to sleep related diseases. The technologist is responsible to perform overnight polysomnographic monitoring on adult patients, home sleep testing as well as reviewing and scoring of completed polysomnograms when required.
Hours/Shift: At least one Saturday per month 8:30pm-6:30am
Essential Functions:
Perform overnight polysomnographic monitoring and home sleep studies on adult patients.
Monitor patient data during test procedures.
Adjusting signal amplifiers, filters, and recording equipment during test procedures; setting up and adjusting CPAP and BiPAP equipment
Perform preventive maintenance procedures on all Sleep Lab equipment.
Perform sleep staging and cardiorespiratory event scoring procedures when required.
Complies with all departmental and hospital policy and procedures.
Completes all computer information for ordering and/or charging purposes.
May assist with the orientation of new employees.
May assist in the evaluation of new equipment.
Participates in the hospital Performance Improvement Program
Acts in accordance with the Aria Health Hospital Standards of Behavior.
Maintains confidentiality of workplace information according to the policy and procedure of the institution.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Cardiorespiratory and/ or Supervisor
Education: Graduate of an AMA approved School for EEG, Sleep Technology, Respiratory Therapy or equivalent on job training.
At least one year of experience in basic EEG, Sleep Technology, or Respiratory Therapy.
Previous experience in polysomnographic monitoring is preferred.
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (R.Psg.T.) or a Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.),
Current PA State Respiratory Care License (if a credentialed Respiratory Therapist)Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support CPR
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
