Susquehanna Printing Company is looking for a Lead Pre-Press Production Specialist to join our team! The Lead Pre-Press Production Specialist will be primary responsibility for fully understanding and supporting the Pre-Press department and company goals, policies and procedures. Lead, support and direct the Pre-Press staff and fill in for the Prepress Supervisor as needed. In addition to leading, they will maximize the efficiency of production in the Pre-Press department, systematically paginating all classified sessions accurately and Building display ads using InDesign in Xpance. The Lead Pre-Press Production Specialist will be responsible for typing accurate ad copy, processing and editing supplied digital files to meet press specs, and accurately proofreading to assure that final advertising copy, photos, and graphics match customer supplied material. Responsibilities include motivating and coaching the staff to be Great Every Day. Addressing complaints and resolving issues.Ability to direct staff in proper work flow procedures.Assist Manager and Supervisor in employee performance evaluations, including Performance Improvement Plans as needed.Additional ResponsibilitiesPerforms tasks in a safe and efficient manner, immediately addressing any safety issues or deficiencies that may arise.Understand and meet all deadlines in a multi-tasking environment.Stays abreast of trends, industry changes, technological and operational updates that impact pre-press functions.Projects a professional, positive and enthusiastic image while performing daily duties.Look outside the box for creative solutions to everyday problems, using good judgment and making logical decisions, using troubleshooting skills.Work closely with IT department to implement new procedures or update current ones.Create compelling, clean, accurate, error-free ads in a timely manner. Reading and following supplied layouts with detailed instructions or sometimes with minimal or incomplete information while being creative.Set/type advertising copyProofread files understanding proofreader marks, checking spelling and grammar for accuracyProcess electronic data (PDF, JPG, TIF, EPS, etc.) provided by customers via email, FTP sites, websites or supplied disksProficiently tone electronic color and B&W photos including quality cut outs as neededWork with customer supplied files so they reproduce properly in the paperAbility to edit customer supplied PDFs in Acrobat and or PitstopIdentify potential print problems and or errors, prior to the files being publishedOperate scanners on both Mac & PC platformMake suggestions to improve policies/proceduresType Mailbox Markets into web forms and Auction Registers using classified data entryRun reports to assist in classified paginationWork with e-mail, websites or FTP sites, such as but not limited to, downloading artwork for ads or comics/puzzles for editorialAssist the Pre-Press department in other responsibilities to assure that all publications are produced in accordance with established production timelinesReport to work on-time, work full shift and work overtime as neededAble to work a varied schedule, days and times based on anticipated departmental workloadsHandle multiple responsibilities in a deadline driven, team environmentCustomer ServiceCommunicate effectively both in oral and written form with Management, Pre-Press staff, LNP, Lancaster Farming and LCW Sales Staffs on a daily basis to assure that the daily and weekly responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.Strive to be great every day while possessing the highest standards of integrity.What are we looking for?Degree in graphic arts or significant related experienceLeadership experience preferredMinimum of three years Graphic Arts experience requiredUnderstanding of both Mac and PC operating systemsProficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark and Acrobat with PitstopUnderstanding of Microsoft Office Software preferredAbility to learn proprietary production/pagination softwareStrong interpersonal, multi task oriented, organizational and time management skillsAbility to successfully lead a team in a fast-paced, deadline driven environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsWishes to work in a business environment in which every employee seeks to be great every dayGood working knowledge of color theory and be able to convert that theory into practiceGood color vision as demonstrated by successful passing of color acuity testHard copy proofreading experience preferred with proficiency in English languageTyping ability for ad copyFor a full list of all positions available please visit our career page: www.steinmancommunications.com/careersPI238789280 Apply
