Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Full Charge Bookkeeper in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This a critical role in overseeing and managing an organization's accounting activities. This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of financial records, handling all aspects of the general ledger, and ensuring alignment with company policies and regulatory standards. This role often requires taking full ownership of the bookkeeping function, working closely with management to provide financial insights, and, in some cases, supervising entry level accounting staff. Key Responsibilities: Manage Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Oversee all aspects of accounting, including journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger maintenance, ensuring accurate financial records. Prepare Financial Statements and Reports: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, such as balance sheets and income statements, and provide detailed financial analyses for management. Handle Payroll and Tax Compliance: Process payroll accurately and ensure timely filing of payroll, sales, and other tax obligations in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Perform Bank and Account Reconciliations: Reconcile bank, credit card, and other account statements regularly to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly. Collaborate with External Auditors: Assist with audits by providing detailed documentation, answering inquiries, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. Streamline Accounting Processes: Manage bookkeeping software, recommend system upgrades, and implement best practices to improve workflow efficiency and accuracy. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or other ERP systems). Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion and professionalism. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. High school diploma or equivalent required, but an associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus.
