Huntingdon County Child & Adult Development Corporation is seeking Head Start Teacher Assistants. This position is part-year/full-time (typically August-May/June each year). The Head Start Teacher Assistant assists with the implementation of classroom activities in accordance with HCCADC policies, practices and procedures, the program plan and the Head Start performance standards. Supervises children in the classroom and on the bus. Work is normally performed in a classroom setting and the job requires occasional walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and lifting of children. Normal visual and auditory acuity is required, since a major responsibility of the job requires coordination/communication between/among other program area staff and parents, supervision of children indoors and outdoors and participation in all planned activities. The employee is required to operate a computer, photocopier, fax machine, etc. and may occasionally be required to operate a motor vehicle. A normal work week consists of 30 hours per week for part-day classroom staff and 40 hours per week for full-day classroom staff , Monday-Friday. Working hours are scheduled based upon the needs of the program. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or Equivalent and experience working with children required. Child Development Associate Credential preferred, but not required. Employees without a Child Development Associate Credential must complete the CDA credential program within two years from the time of hire. Benefits and paid time off available. EOE.
