The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale is seeking a highly motivated Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist to join our dynamic team of professionals! DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2 for the Department of Corrections, you will provide alcohol and other drug treatment services to the inmate population within both the Outpatient and Therapeutic Community Programs. You will conduct initial assessment interviews, make preliminary recommendations for programming needs, provide individual and group therapy, and monitor/coordinate self-help groups. In addition, you will provide valuable on-the-job training, advice, and guidance to new treatment specialists, students, and volunteers at the direction of the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Supervisor/Manager and attend training and certificate programs relating to general counseling, substance abuse, mental health, and/or developmental disabilities to develop and sharpen your skills.Join the DOC in their mission to reduce criminal behavior by providing individualized treatment and education to offenders, resulting in successful community reintegration through accountability and positive change.Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment (40-hour work week)

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,693.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor";or

One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1;or

Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences;or

One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work;or

An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences.

Other Requirements:
