Serve meals that are appetizing in appearance and on a timely basis.
Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties.
Clean dining room tables, work tables and refrigerators/freezers.
Sweep and mop floors as directed.
Wash, clean and return dishes and utensils to proper storage area.
Set up dining room tables as according to policy.
Set up meal trays.
Serve meals in dining room according to tray cards and spread sheets.
Prep any special items for next meal (pour juices, milk, etc)
Restock dining room pantries for next meal.
Change menus daily and weekly as required.
Treat all residents fairly and with kindness. Provide care and services in a manner which is respectful of resident's rights and dignity and which allows residents the right to choose, including the right to refuse care/treatment.
Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and facility information and comply with applicable laws related to confidentiality (HIPAA).
Provide a safe, secure, and home-like environment. Exercise care and concern for the property of the facility and residents' belongings.
Record food temperatures and all other documentation as required.
Serve food in accordance with sanitary regulations as well with established policies and procedures.
Ensure that stored food is properly labeled and dated. Ensure that outdated food is properly disposed.
Perform dishwashing under sanitary conditions and according to established procedures.
Dining room tables and work areas are cleaned according to established procedures.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation: High school diploma or equivalentExperience: On the job training is provided.Other Physical/Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices)
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in dietary services area and other areas as required, as well as throughout the facility.
Moves frequently during work hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all circumstances.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Attends and participates in continuing education programs.
Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
Communicates with departmental personnel and other personnel as required.
Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily when necessary.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
