JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:A full-time Research Technologist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Shilpi Paul in the Neural and Behavioral Sciences Department at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey PA. The lab works on the interface of cancer and neurological disorders. We are interested in understanding how cells exposed to stressors like estrogen and oxidative stress utilize different damage response pathways to maintain genome and proteome integrity; how these proteins are misregulated during cancer, aging and neurological disorders.The principal research roles of this job will include maintenance of human cancer cell lines, primary neuronal culture and human iPSCs, using molecular and genetic tools to manipulate gene expression in cell culture systems, analysis of gene and protein expression, immunoprecipitation, proteomics and immunofluorescence techniques. If desired and qualified, independent research opportunities will be available.Management functions of the position include managing inventory, upkeep of equipment, and help train students/interns in lab techniques. Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel) and knowledge on using statistical programs such as R, GraphPad Prism are required. Candidates must be willing to learn new techniques, responsible, self-motivated, conscientious, flexible, a good communicator, and possess strong organizational skills. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the development and design of research projects under the direction of faculty.Minimum Education & Experience

No prior relevant work experience required

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.
