THE POSITION

The Department of Labor & Industry is seeking a dedicated Clerical Assistant 3 to join our team in the Unemployment Compensation (UC) Board of Review-Administration office. This position gives you the opportunity to support the Referee staff in processing UC appeals involving varied and complicated legal issues. Apply today to make your career aspirations a reality!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Clerical Assistant 3 you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing incoming appeals, determining proper location and type of hearing whether it be via telephone or in-person, and identifying issues of law involved in each hearing. Work includes identifying parties involved in the claims, determining which dockets should be combined into one hearing, as well as what evidence is appropriate for each appeal case file. Administrative duties may include organizing case files, scheduling hearings, and processing required notices. Effective communication is a key aspect of this position as you will be corresponding with involved parties regarding requests for subpoena, continuance, withdrawal, and accommodations. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to transcribe, prepare, and distribute decisions resulting from completed hearings. Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Work hours may be negotiable based on operational needs.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week, upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hermitage.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or

One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
