Knowledgeable in ordering concrete from reputable suppliers, ensuring it meets the required specifications for strength and workability. Set up forms using wood or metal to define the shape and boundaries of concrete areas. Ensure that the forms are level and properly braced to prevent movement during the pour. Skilled in mixing, transporting and pouring concrete. If mixing on-site, able to prepare the concrete mix according to the manufacturer’s guidelines, including understanding of moisture control based on weather conditions. Experienced in finishing, including screeding to remove excess concrete and create a uniform surface, floating to smooth the surface further and edging to create a rounded or beveled edge. When required, perform jointing to create control joints in the concrete to prevent cracking. Use a groover tool to cut shallow joints at appropriate intervals, ensuring they are straight and evenly spaced. Perform final finishing or for a textured finish, use broom to create a non-slip surface. Ensure proper curing for achieving optimal strength and durability, applying appropriate covering (i.e. wet burlap, plastic sheeting) or applying curing compounds to retain moisture. Perform cleanup: After the concrete has set, remove forms carefully to avoid damaging the edges, clean up excess concrete and tools used during the process. Perform final inspection for any imperfections or areas that may require touch-ups. Ensure that the walkways are level, smooth, and free of debris.
