Why I Need Help
Due to complications related to a spinal cord injury that occurred more than 30 years ago, I have spent over 20 hours a day lying face down in bed for the past three years.
Four years ago, the nurse who was helping me had to quit due to arthritis in her back. Ever since then, my mom has had to provide all of my skilled care.
The Help That I Need
The skilled care that I most need help with is my bowel routine, which I do once every three days. I would need somebody for 4 hours starting at 3 PM or 3:30 PM. The other activities that I need assistance with are as follows:
Straight catheterization
Insert/remove Foley catheter
Bed bath
Meal prep and cleaning up
Transfers in and out of my wheelchair
Positioning
Range of motion
Getting dressed
The Pay
The pay is $40/hour with a $250 bonus after three months. You will need to be hired by an agency affiliated with my insurance, which is UPMC Community Health Choices. These agencies do not pay $40, but I will pay the difference out of pocket.
