DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will be responsible for conducting preliminary inspections across all stages of transportation construction projects. You will work closely with contractors and surveyors to verify grades, elevations, structure stake-out, and roadway stake-out. Additionally, you will assist in the completion of necessary documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements. Utilizing both computer and iPad technology, this role will be tasked with documenting project progress and entering daily information into an electronic system. You will also be responsible for generating reports as needed to track project milestones and schedules, as well as monitoring material quantities and testing methods, whether manual or computerized.Collaboration is key in this position, as you will interact with various stakeholders including Department staff, federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the general public. This ensures effective communication and administration of transportation construction projects, promoting transparency and accountability throughout the process. The role also involves resolving any field construction issues that may arise, such as inspecting the placement of materials like cement concrete, bituminous concrete, and drainage materials. This role will be required to produce reports, interpret results, and track progress to ensure project success and compliance with regulations.Furthermore, you will perform mathematical calculations to assess material consistency, create sketches, document field plan changes, and maintain detailed construction inspection reports. You will also conduct compaction testing of sub-surface materials during construction to guarantee quality and adherence to standards, ultimately ensuring that transportation projects are completed in accordance with all relevant regulations and procedures.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

The position will be reporting to various projects sites within York County, however limited travel to District 8-0 at 2140 Herr Street may be required. Travel reimbursement may be possible.

Vendor-controlled flex schedule.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or

One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or

An equivalent combinat on of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
