THE POSITION

This position in the Bureau of Epidemiology, Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention (HAIP) Division, supports the organization's mission of protecting the public's health by collecting and analyzing data from healthcare facilities with an emphasis on long term care to assess adherence to the core elements of their antibiotic stewardship program (ASP), track antibiotic use, identify facilities in need of assistance, and assist facilities to improve the implementation of ASPs and utilization of antibiotic prescription data. The goal of this position is to improve judicious use of antibiotics in healthcare settings.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The role will involve being an integral part of the antimicrobial stewardship team in the HAIP Division, focusing on expanding stewardship activities specifically in long-term care settings. Responsibilities will include collaborating with a team to enhance antimicrobial stewardship efforts in various healthcare facilities, with a primary emphasis on long-term care facilities while also providing support to colleagues working in different settings. The position will require developing and maintaining a high level of expertise in measuring antibiotic use and implementing key components of an antibiotic stewardship program. Additionally, tasks will involve creating and executing social media content for antibiotic awareness week to advocate for the appropriate use of antibiotics in healthcare facilities. Furthermore, the role will entail presenting, publishing, and sharing epidemiological findings and professional experiences in professional journals, national and regional conferences, and other platforms to disseminate valuable information and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

This position allows you the option of reporting to our office in Greensburg, Harrisburg, or Reading, Pennsylvania.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of professional experience performing public health or environmental health epidemiological investigations or studies, or designing and managing a disease surveillance system; and a master's degree that includes or is supplemented by six credits in epidemiology, environmental health, statistics, or research.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
