THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking an Institutional Parole Assistant to perform clerical duties and provide technical assistance at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. This position is within the Department of Corrections.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Institutional Parole Assistant, you will provide clerical and technical assistance within the institutional parole office. You will be responsible for controlling inmates in the parole release process, ensuring they are released in accordance with laws governing release of offenders and Parole Board policy. In this role, you will interview inmates to determine their home plan needs; monitor results of drug screening and home plan investigations, status changes, Corrections Community Center (CCC) referrals, Crime victim Act payments, and misconducts or infractions prior to release. You will prepare release orders, letters, memos, and end of month status reports, and conduct criminal histories (RAP sheets) for any needed cases on the monthly docket.Interested in learning more? Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Four years of experience as a Clerical Assistant 2 in the Department of Corrections orProbation and Parole Board (commonwealth title); orOne year of complex clerical experience; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.
