This is an incredible opportunity to grow your career with a robust nursing ladder, along with the possibility for ongoing advancement.About the units:Observation/Short Stay Acute Care Unit (3 South) : a 23-bed unit for adult medical-surgical patients needing care after failed outpatient treatment, unsuccessful emergency department care, or post-procedure recovery. It focuses on stabilizing patients, reassessing for discharge, or hospital admission.Transitional Support Unit (4 North) : an 11-bed transitional support unit, providing care for medical and surgical patients who are medically stable and are awaiting discharge. Generous Sign-On Bonus for experienced nurses of up to $20,000 (Amount and eligibility based on type of nursing role and candidate experience)

Purpose: The Unit Director is responsible for leading and managing their assigned area 24/7 to ensure excellent patient and employee experiences. They focus on improving patient care quality, creating a healthy workplace, and overseeing clinical and administrative functions. Key duties include collaborating with medical staff to monitor patient outcomes, setting clinical quality priorities, supporting shared governance, and fostering professional and patient safety improvements. They also oversee staff selection, hiring, orientation, performance management, and budgeting.Responsibilities:

Collaborates with medical staff to monitor patient outcomes, set clinical quality priorities, and implement safety initiatives. Monitors dashboard indicators and quality, develops action plans to address concerns and improve quality.

Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to support clinical care improvements. Shares learning from improvements with other units or across the system.

Analyzes nurse and patient satisfaction data, develops action plans as needed.

Encourages staff nurse involvement in evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.

Develops and maintains productive relationships internally and externally through mentoring and positive communication. Resolves and manages conflict effectively and timely.

Extends trust, acknowledges contributions, listens first, creates transparency, confronts reality, and clarifies expectations.

Plans department work schedule collaboratively to support safety and healthy lifestyles. Conveys information clearly to engage and help the audience understand and retain the message.

Coaches staff on cultural diversity, addresses workplace violence and impairment. Creates an environment that values differences in staff, physicians, patients, and communities.

Creates a shared vision, applies critical thinking, and uses financial and quality data for department vision and operational plan. Involves staff and stakeholders in developing a vision within a shared governance model.

Orchestrates complex change, acknowledges psychological transitions, involves stakeholders in planning and redesigning change.

Supports staff during difficult transitions, influences the external environment through professional and advocacy organizations.

Promotes patient-centered decisions within the framework of Relationship Based Care. Ensures nurses practice according to Clinical Standards of Performance.

Applies national best practices and evidence-based practice to build a culture of excellence in patient care. Promotes interdisciplinary partnership and consultation through committee participation.

Sets clinical, financial, and human resources priorities aligned with organizational goals. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in department budget management, holds staff accountable for resource use.

Sets high performance standards, supports professional growth and development. Creates developmental paths for staff, initiates innovation in staff development and education.

Develops a best practice climate for students and new nurses, recruits nursing students through exceptional clinical experiences. Supports shared governance through a unit-based professional practice council.

Leads and develops Clinicians, supports them in oversight of direct reports, including difficult conversations, performance reviews, and recruitment. Assists with planning, implementing, and verifying competencies for direct care providers and staff.

Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience required, relevant clinical experience preferred.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of all ages.

Understands principles of growth and development over the lifespan. Assesses and interprets patient data to identify age-specific needs.

Analytical ability to evaluate staff, address clinical issues, and devise solutions to complex problems.

Leadership ability to develop staff, maintain performance standards, and comply with administrative requirements.

Superior interpersonal and communication skills to support a healing environment with patients, families, staff, physicians, and hospital personnel.

BS/BSN required at time of hire, master's degree/MSN required. If BS degree is not in nursing, a master's or higher degree in Nursing is required. If master's degree is not in nursing, a BSN is required. If master's degree/MSN is not present at time of hire, must enroll in a Master's or MSN program within one year of hire/transfer date and complete within three years of enrollment.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
