[SC00]This position can be located in Erie, Altoona, Reading, or York.The Network Support Engineer is to provide field engineering service and technical support for the construction, testing, and commissioning of the underground ducted network equipment within the PA Operations footprint. The position will work to help establish plans for the eventual asset replacement and upgrades to the system. It will also provide technical and leadership support to the Transmission and Controls Support supervisory and management staff as needed.Responsibilities:

Provide safe, efficient, and accurate commissioning of new network equipment prior to it being placed in service

Development of procedures, review and approval of test results and isolation plans, and the development of energization plans to minimize risk

Work with supervisors, electricians, distribution technicians, and operations to ensure proper installation, maintenance, and operation of the network equipment

Audit equipment data in Cascade for accuracy

Providing a high level of service, continuous support, and proactive involvement surrounding technical subject matter to leadership and fellow peers

Conducting a variety of technical research and analysis; Interpreting results; Assisting in implementation activities (when necessary)

Maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers and the community based upon knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations/requirements

Contributing to solutions by taking an initiative to developing alternatives and recommendations

Offering ideas and suggestions to improve moderately complex technical processes and/or projects

Providing sound customer service by exceeding customer needs

Actively seeking ways to build challenge and add value within scope of assignments

Consistently anticipating and delivering results on a variety of job-specific subject matter

Providing advice, education, and encouragement to others

Supporting the emergency plan through participation in assigned storm duties

Producing results that have a direct, positive impact on the Company.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering for an ABET accredited school required, or a PE License

Commitment to FE’s safety Policies, the APH, and S&HP Tools

Understanding of FE Manual of Operations

Demonstrated commitment to FirstEnergy's Core Values

Effectively work independently and in unison with fellow team members.

Self-motivated and a self-starter, customer focused, and results oriented.

Basic researching skills required.

Familiarity with the understanding, application, and communication of microprocessor-based protection and control equipment is considered a plus

Experience with Network Protectors, Transformers, Vaults, and other network equipment is a plus

Ability to lead by example

Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships

A willingness to train and mentor less experienced staff and others

Ability to develop effective working relationships with employee at all levels of FE

Must be capable of driving projects and tasks to completion by working in the field with the PA Operations personnel and the physical workforce

Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
