ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Hamot is currently hiring a Full-Time Professional /Senior Professional Staff Nurse to support our Diagnostic & Non-vascular Interventional Procedure Unit.1-year prior nursing experience in a procedural area is highly preferred.Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.Shift Details:

Hours: Monday–Friday, with shifts from 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 7:45 AM – 4:15 PM, or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Schedule: 5 shifts per week (8 hours each)

Weekends/Holidays: No scheduled weekends, nights, or holidays.

Minimal call: 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM, once a week.

Rotating weekend call: Every 5th weekend, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Minimal rotating holiday call: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

The Professional Staff Nurse in Radiology is responsible for providing exceptional patient care while maintaining a supportive and collaborative working environment. This position requires a commitment to professional development, quality improvement, and fostering positive relationships with both patients and colleagues.Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Safety:

Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship-Based Care, creating a healing environment for patients.

Develop individualized care plans and daily goals in partnership with patients, addressing their clinical, social, psychological, safety, and spiritual needs.

Demonstrate critical thinking to identify patient concerns and collaborate with other healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes.

Ensure comprehensive documentation that promotes communication between caregivers and aligns with patient safety and quality goals.

Actively communicate safety hazards and participate in workplace safety initiatives.

Teaching & Development:

Demonstrate knowledge of adult (and/or pediatric) learning principles, applying them in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff.

Provide thorough and effective patient and family education to ensure understanding throughout the episode of care and during transitions.

Mentor and support the development of students, new staff, and peers, and serve as a preceptor when applicable.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement by asking for feedback and enhancing practice.

Professional Engagement:

Actively participate in unit-based shared governance, goal setting, and quality improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with colleagues to identify opportunities for improvement in patient care and the work environment.

Serve as an engaged and flexible partner in patient care, responding to team member needs and assisting with workload as necessary.

Incorporate evidence-based practices and research findings to support clinical care and improve patient satisfaction.

Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions on care plans and quality improvement efforts.

Experience: Zero to two years of experience; BSN preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.

Work Environment: Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, manage multiple and changing priorities, and use specialized equipment.

Clinical Judgment: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required for patient care. Ability to lead others in applying the nursing process.

Physical Requirements: Mobility and visual/manual dexterity required. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.

Certifications:

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required within 1 year of hire/transfer.

BLS (Basic Life Support) or CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification based on AHA standards, including a didactic and skills demonstration component, required within 30 days of hire.

Graduate Nurses must complete the licensure examination within 6 months of hire or within one year of graduation (whichever comes first).

Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) holders must take the licensure exam within 6 months of their start date or risk termination or demotion at the discretion of the business unit.

Clearances:

Act 33 (Child Abuse Clearance) with renewal.

Act 34 (Criminal Background Check) with renewal.

Act 73 (FBI Clearance) with renewal.

Multistate Licensure: If applicable, current licensure under the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC).

New hires with an out-of-state NLC license must apply for licensure in the state where the facility is located within 60 days of establishing residency.
