The Penn State College of Medicine, Department, Cheng Lab in the Jake Gittlen Laboratories for Cancer Research, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a faculty level Researcher to coordinate, manage, and support the Geometry of Life and Disease project aimed at quantitatively characterizing the 3D morphology of all cell types and their spatial relationships in the context of the whole organism using wide-field, subcellular-resolution microCT. We are building the foundation to democratize access to the imaging technology and the infrastructure to streamline image processing and analysis workflow. Due to its size, zebrafish is an ideal specimen for the current limit of centimeter-scale field-of-view. Our lab maintains a DNA polymerase zebrafish mutant that exhibits cellular abnormality in virtually all cell types, which makes this mutant an ideal model for this project. The candidate will be expected to have extensive experience in zebrafish genetics and husbandry, and proficiency in microCT imaging, segmentation, and analysis. The candidate should demonstrate a track record of successful grant and publication writing and submission. This is a limited-termnon-tenure lineposition funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance withUniversitypolices. The Pennsylvania State University is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion inall ofits forms. We embrace individual uniqueness, foster a culture of inclusive excellence that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives, leverage the educational and institutional benefits of diversity, and engage all individuals to help them thrive.
