THE POSITIONEngineering District 2 is currently on the lookout for a dedicated individual to take on the role of a full-time Transportation Construction Inspector. This position involves carrying out a range of technical responsibilities related to inspecting materials and workmanship on bridge projects located within Engineering District 2-0. The primary objective is to guarantee that all tasks are executed in compliance with the approved construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications.DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a member of the bridge inspection team, you will be responsible for supporting the team leader in conducting a variety of technical tasks related to the inspection of bridges and other structures, in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). Your main duties will involve assisting with safety inspections on existing bridges, examining the condition of bridge structural members, foundations, supports, and other components to ensure compliance with the required standards.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or

Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or

One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or

Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or

Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

This position will require possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.

Post Employment Requirement:

National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) certification - must be certified within 12 months of hire date.
