THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is looking for a Corrections Employment Vocational Coordinator to join the team at our State Correctional Institution (SCI), Chester. This position focuses on managing employment and skill development experiences and providing employment-related counseling to inmates. In this position, you provide employment and skills development opportunities to inmates within SCI Chester. You are responsible for managing inmate jobs and academic/vocational program assignments for which inmates are compensated. Duties include determining job vacancies, interviewing inmates, and reviewing all inmates before assigning work details. You also provide vocational counseling directed at employment and skill development opportunities. In addition, you coordinate and implement the inmate payroll and compensation system.Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $56,900.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of experience as a Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant;or

Two years of para-professional experience in obtaining and evaluating vocational or employment information;or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
