Zoning and Code Officer

Description We are offering a role for a Zoning and Code Officer in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Working primarily within the administrative and municipal sectors, the successful candidate will be providing zoning, code enforcement, building code administration, and inspections services, among others. This role necessitates self-motivation, capability to work independently, and strong interpersonal skills for liaising with the public, officials, staff, and coworkers. Responsibilities: Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and maturity Interact professionally with various members of the public, elected or appointed officials, municipal staff, and coworkers Provide zoning-related functions, including conducting reviews of proposed plans, researching applicable zoning requirements, and rendering decisions or recommendations in a clear and concise manner Solve problems logically within the parameters of local and state ordinances, regulations, and laws Perform administrative duties including office time, report writing, and research Maintain regular office hours in the Chambersburg area and attend some evening meetings Read and comprehend technical documents, reports, laws and regulations, and customer-supplied documents Utilize strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Provide excellent customer service and manage timelines effectively Carry out data entry tasks, organize files, and perform shipping functions as requiredRequirements Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner Experience with data entry tasks, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail Ability to manage timelines effectively, ensuring projects are completed within set deadlines Competence in organizing files, both physical and digital, for easy access and retrieval Familiarity with shipping functions, including packaging, labeling, and arranging for courier pick up Experience in scanning documents and saving them in the correct file formats and locations Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong collaborative skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and succinctly.
