Sheet Metal Mechanic needed for busy Custom Metal Fabrication Shop in Carlisle. Fabricates, assembles, repairs sheet metal products and equipment such as HVAC/R ductwork, control boxes, drainpipes, ventilators and furnace casings, according to job order or blueprints. Selects gage and type of sheet metal according to product being fabricated and knowledge of metal. Locates and marks dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets. Layout workers will set up and operate fabricating machinges, such as shears, brakes, bending rolls and punch and drill presses to cut, bend and straighten sheet metal. Shapes metal over anvils, blocks or forms, using hammer. Fabricates OEM parts.
Will fabricate, assemble and repair sheet metal products/equipment
Will select appropriate gage and type of sheet metal
Will be responsible to locate and mark dimensions/reference lines on metal sheets
May set up/operate fabricating machines
Will shape metal
May work either in shop or in the field, as assigned
Observe and promote safety awareness at all time, in all work enviornments
Qualifications include (but are not limited to):
Understand shop math and proficient with reading a tape measure as well as ability to comprehend/measure angles
Proficient with a 4 1/2" grinder
Basic proficiency of all welding operations (MIG, TIG, SITCK)
Understanding of blueprints and weld symbols
Ability to cut parts from a cut list using various methods
Basic knowledge of laying out parts
Must have current valid PA driver's license
Must have high school diploma or GED certification
