Individual project assignments will be performed under the direction of the Internal Audit Director and in accordance with professional standards and department protocols. Manage the corporation's Audit Committee approved annual operational audit plan. This includes managing the assigned internal audit staff, whether direct reports or not, including leadership on planning of each audit.

Prepares audit reports summarizing audit results. Works with business to document recommendations and status of post-audit responses to ensure completion.

Performs audit work, including preparation of audit workpapers. Uses data analysis tools to perform audit procedures.

Manage the assigned staff (who directly report to the Internal Audit Manager) that would be performing direct assistance to our external auditors for financial audits and audits of the company's benefit plans. Reviews workpapers and audit reports.

Serve as a technical expert to other audit staff and partners with others in complex audit situations.

Develops and provides training to audit staff as needed.

Annually perform a self-assessment of the department following the guidance of the Institute of Internal Auditors standards in an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the internal audit function. Every five years coordinate with external auditor for external assessment of the department.

Assist in development of the annual audit plan.

Keeps up to date on company policies and procedures, current accounting and auditing developments, as well as changes in local, state and federal laws, as applicableQualifications:

Bachelor's or MBA degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.

Candidate must have 4 to 10 years of experience in internal / external audit or business risk consulting.

Strong analytical, strategic thinking and interpersonal skills required. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Proficiency using general office software applications.

Preference to candidates with experience using computer-assisted audit tools, such as audit data analysis tools in an SAP environment with a general understanding of data analysis techniques.

Candidate must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Big 4, CPA, or utility credentials preferred. Preference to candidates with prior supervisory experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong analytical, strategic thinking and interpersonal skills required. Must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Proficiency using general PC applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with a general understanding of data analysis techniques.

Effectively shares information with other team members and promotes open dialogue as necessary.

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Perform sedentary work- exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Operate standard office equipment.

Working conditions may include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents (if applicable)
