NC Machine Operator 2nd Shift

Description: We are seeking an NC Machine Operator to support our team. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Follow instructions to machine, fabricate, or assemble parts to print and operation sheet specifications using conventional, CNC, and sheet metal machines including saws, riveters, fasteners, setters, presses, spot welders, and hand tools including grinders, Helicoil installation tools, etc. Interpret CAD data, prints and sketches with regard to fabrication and follow written/verbal instructions Perform secondary operations during the machine cycle such as deburring and straightening Inspect parts as they are produced using standard gages, micrometers, indicators, vernier calipers, depth gages, and other measuring devices, to ensure conformity to specifications Inspect cutting tools for wear to ensure the quality of parts, reports worn tools to the supervisor or set up person, and make adjustments during production run as required to maintain quality parts and to keep the machine running Maintain coolant levels to ensure a steady supply of coolant/cutting fluids to the machine Maintain workstation/cell in organized manner and in compliance with any applicable safety standards Receive and, when assigned, provide cross-training for other tasks related to department functions and procedures Recommend and execute changes to achieve process improvements and/or cycle time reductions Perform minor preventive maintenance to equipment Work in time-critical situations in a dynamic, team-oriented environment where programs, setups, and tooling are constantly changing and interact effectively with associates & management as priorities shift Perform other job-related duties as required by stakeholders Physical condition allowing: lifting 50 pounds; standing, sitting, bending, walking, 10+ hours per day; personal protective equipment including Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and wearing a respirator when required Select and install proper cutting tools, and zeroe in the machine to control. Shape and install proper cutting tools select proper tool offsets to meet quality standards and make other necessary setup adjustments Select and load proper CNC program in machine control to insure proper operation of the machine Inspect set up parts prior to submission to inspection for approval to the fullest and mostpractical extent possible Investigate “out of specification” problems in machining processes and work with ME’s and programmers to resolve issues Provide technical support to Manufacturing personnel when necessary Set up CNC machines per blueprints or customer requirements Verify gages and inspection equipment required are correct and appropriate for the task Verify NC code during execution of setup Pre-set and install proper cutting tools select proper speeds, feeds, and depth of cut where applicable to maintain the proper quantity and quality standards Adhere to safety guidelines and the correct procedures for performing tasks to prevent personal injury or damage to product and/or equipment Support a flexible work schedule supporting overtime, off-Fridays, weekends, and/or alternate shifts to support product schedules as requiredBasic Qualifications: 2 years, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized training in specific aspects of job functions and with demonstrated ability to meet production time standards with minimal defects Knowledge of basic shop math (metric conversion and arithmetic) Proficient in use of Measuring Equipment and able to verify conformance of machined work piece to specifications Proficient in reading and understanding complex mechanical blueprints Experience in selection and installation of proper cutting tools, and zeroing the machine to control. Experience in shaping and installing proper cutting tools and selecting proper tool offsets to meet quality standards and make other necessary setup adjustmentsDesired Skills: Knowledge of M & G code to be able to edit & trouble shoot CNC program at machine Experience as CNC operator in multiple machine cellular manufacturing operation Experience with setups on both horizontal and vertical machines Experience pre-setting cutting tools and setting up fixtures in machines Proficient with editing CNC programs and using FANUC controls Experience working/machining steel, aluminum and stainless steel with knowledge of machining speeds and feeds required Proficient at GD&T Experience in set up and operation of one or more computer numerical controlled machining centers.
