DESCRIPTIONAbout the PositionThis position works primarily in the area of Accounts Payable, including vendor payments, employee reimbursements and petty cash reimbursements. Position will also maintain spreadsheets, handle cash and utilize financial software such as PeopleSoft. Position checks claims and vouchers for fraudulent or improper authorization and other discrepancies and resolves discrepancies. Duties also include auditing claims and vouchers for accuracy, budget classification, discounts, legality, propriety and compliance with County procedures and contracts according to established guidelines. About the DivisionThe Administrative Services Division is responsible for staff support services for the other seven Public Works Divisions, as well as central administration for the Department. Examples of direct administrative responsibility for the Department are in personnel, payroll, budgeting, financial management, safety, training and development, contract administration and reception. Support is also provided for annualized special projects in such areas as Budget preparation. In addition, Administrative Services provides leadership, information, analysis and support to the department director, management team, staff, citizens, and Board of Commissioners to assist them in their efforts to make quality decisions about the department and the County communities. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime per operational needs. This is an AFSCME represented positionQUALIFICATIONSTraining

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in bookkeeping or accounting or a related field is desirable.

Experience

Two years of responsible financial or statistical record-keeping experience.

An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
