Hello,
I used Lang 8 and an Assimil course to write German texts and receive feedback for four years; some of the time was also spent with a German tutor who lived overseas. We discussed grammar, sentence structure, culture, etc. Instead of taking a second language sequence at PCC or PSU, I tested out of the German sequence at Portland State University. I can work with Russian speakers who are interested in learning German. If you would like proof of proficiency, look below:
Lang 8 - German ranking (1/18/2024) - 6 / 108,815

My teaching style would consist of using application driven-thinking, bilingual texts, and critical thinking. Once proficiency is demonstrated in those categories, more emphasis would be placed in materials that the student is interested in as they are more likely to be efficient in listening, reading, speaking, and writing. The student can choose to meet in person or on skype.
Take care,
Vlad
