Powell’s Books, the largest independent bookseller in the world, is seeking a skilled individual with carpentry experience to enrich the ambiance of our stores. The Facilities Specialist will primarily focus on carpentry tasks while also contributing to the overall maintenance and improvement of our properties. This role involves executing and coordinating cleaning, maintenance, repairs, and enhancements across Powell’s facilities, specializing in carpentry and potentially other relevant building skills. The Specialist will oversee the installation of equipment and the creation of fixtures to ensure an engaging space for both customers and staff. Additionally, they will assess and manage contractors and service vendors within their area of expertise. While operating within established guidelines, the Specialist will have the autonomy to address challenges as they arise, with significant decision-making authority within their scope. Any expenditure exceeding a defined threshold will require prior approval from the Facilities Operations Manager. This position reports directly to the Facilities Operations Manager.

Schedule is to be determined, flex time, and may include weekend and off-hour shifts.

Compensation is $18.75 per hour or more, depending on experience.
