Maintenance Mechanic

Overview

Maintain and repair with privately-owned hand tools all equipment and or assets associated with non-ferrous downstream sorting operation.

Knowledge and Skills Required

▪Perform diagnostics using maintenance manuals provided on unique custom equipment

▪Perform repairs and diagnostics on pneumatic systems and large compressors

▪Basic electrical knowledge and ability to rewire low voltage systems

▪Experience with conveyor systems and repairs

▪Understanding and use of PLC’s

▪Some experience with heavy equipment repairs

▪Perform building and yard maintenance

▪Maintain accurate written logs and records of all time and materials used to do repairs on company assets

▪Strong experience in welding and fabrication

▪Personable with customers

▪Able to make independent decisions

▪Recognize issues and ability to contribute outside the maintenance function

Functions

▪Operate vehicles in safe manner

▪Correctly complete all paperwork

▪Maintain cleanliness in the work areas and shop

Hand Tools Used

▪Complete set of hand tools up to : 1 ½” size

▪Air tools up to ½” drive

▪Diagnostic tools for trouble shooting electrical and pneumatic problems

▪Large roll away and top tool box

Vehicles or Moving Equipment driven as part of the job

▪May be required to travel to other yards using company-owned service truck. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

▪Ability to operate pay loader, aerial lift, skid steer & forklift

▪All weather conditions

▪Metals of all kind, shapes, sizes and weights

▪Fuel, grease oils and aerosols

▪Compressed gasses : Oxygen, acetylene, argon

Organizational Relationships

▪Reports to the NFR manager of PCS

Physical Requirements or Demands

▪Standing for approximately 8 hours per day

▪Sitting for approximately 1 hour per day

▪Walking for up to 7 hours per day

▪Above activities occur over an eight hour period. Workers can change positions occasionally.
