Position Summary:
The Chimney Inspector will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, documenting and estimating the condition of chimneys, fireplaces, and venting systems. This role plays a key part in identifying safety hazards and recommending maintenance or repairs to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Level 1 and Level 2 chimney inspections in accordance with NFPA 211 standards
Use specialized tools and video scanning equipment to assess interior flue conditions
Evaluate structural integrity, creosote buildup, blockages, and code compliance
Accurately document inspection findings and complete detailed reports
Communicate clearly with customers regarding inspection results and recommended services
Work with office staff to schedule follow-up repairs or cleaning as needed
Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
NFPA OR CSIA (National Fire Protection Association) Certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days
Comfortable working at heights and in tight spaces
Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50+ lbs
Comfortable with climbing ladders and working on rooftops
Able to kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods
