Job Title: Plant Technician

Reports To: Director of Cultivation / Lead Grower

Position Summary
The Plant Technician plays a vital role in the day-to-day care, maintenance, and monitoring of cannabis plants through all stages of the cultivation cycle. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to strict compliance standards, and a passion for plant health and quality. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within the cultivation team to achieve consistent, high-quality harvests while maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant workspace.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Care & Maintenance
-Assist in the propagation, transplanting, pruning, training, and defoliation of cannabis plants.
-Water, feed, and monitor plants according to cultivation schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
-Monitor plant health for signs of pests, disease, or nutrient deficiencies, and report findings to supervisors.
Cultivation Operations
-Execute daily cultivation tasks including trellising, canopy management, and environmental adjustments.
-Prepare and mix nutrients according to recipes, ensuring accurate measurement and application.
-Operate and maintain cultivation equipment such as irrigation systems, environmental controls, and trimming tools.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
-Accurately record plant counts, growth stages, and activities in compliance with state regulations (e.g., METRC).
-Follow all facility SOPs and state regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance at all times.
-Assist with tagging, labeling, and tracking plants through each phase of production.
Sanitation & Safety
-Maintain a clean and organized grow environment, including daily cleaning of tools, work areas, and equipment.
-Follow safety protocols for handling chemicals, fertilizers, and cultivation equipment.
-Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) during all cultivation activities.
Qualifications
Required:
-High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred).
-Experience in horticulture, agriculture, or related field (cannabis cultivation preferred).
-Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
-Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, humidity, exposure to bright lights).
-Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
-Ability to pass all state-required background checks.
Preferred:
-Prior experience with cannabis plant care and cultivation systems.
-Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) techniques.
-Familiarity with state cannabis compliance software (e.g., METRC).
Work Environment
This position involves working in cultivation rooms with controlled lighting, temperature, and humidity.
Employees must be comfortable working around strong plant aromas and in PPE.
Work schedules may require weekends and occasional overtime during peak harvest periods.
