PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

To ensure the delivery of high-quality, on-spec, on-time sewing and detail work of all GuildWorks’ Technical Fabric Fabrications. To ensure Prototypes, R&D of new materials and techniques are carried out in a safe and accurate manner and completing small production runs as required.

This is scheduled to start a part-time position for someone interested in honing their skills as a Technical Fabricator. This position has flexibility and growth potential, working towards a full-time important company position.

GOALS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for sewing, welding and fabricating all company inhouse made Fabric productions.

Manage small production runs.

Manage R&D tests on materials and techniques.

Manage any prototyping and repairs.

Responsible for sewing on heavy fabrics such as architectural canvas and vinyl.

Operate high frequency & hot-air welding machines.

Accurately measure and align parts, fasteners, or trimmings, following seams, edges, or markings on parts.

Use and run CNC cutting machine to precise specifications.

Read plans and patterns accurately and relay production information to design department.

Drive to contribute to improving production processes.

High willingness to learn and push abilities and understanding.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 1-3 years experience working in a cut and sew environment.

Experience working with industrial sewing machines – zig zag walking foot, top stitch, straight stitch walking foot.

1-3 years experience sewing heavy fabrics on industrial machines.

Knowledge of patterning, sewing construction and techniques and able to understand the bigger picture of a project.

Experience working in the awning,tent or fabric tech industry is a plus.

Experience troubleshooting and maintaining sewing machines is a plus.

Proven record working with demanding deadlines and production schedules.

Computer skills with CAD and cut & pattern files are a plus.

Experience working with the Google platform is a plus.

Experience using a high-frequency welder is a plus.

Have manual dexterity and the ability to use tools with precision and accuracy.

Physically able to bend, push, reach, stand, stoop, turn, walk, climb, read/see for the duration of a work shift.

Knowledge of knots and ropes is a plus.

Familiarity with OSHA safety standards is a plus.

Safety and First Aid training is a plus.

Related work experience is a factor in our consideration.
